Mellencamp’s guitarist returns to Indiana
After many years living in Florida, Larry Crane – lead guitartist for John mellencamps band for many years – is back in the limelight and back in his home state of Indiana. Crane appeared in castleton January 7th at Sam Ash Music , 8284 Center Run Drive to hold a guitar clinic sharing the ins and outs of “Authority Song and Play Guitar –two hits from Mellencamps 1983 album “Uh-Huh.”
Crane played lead guitar in John Mellancamps band from 1975 through 1991 and collaborated in 1992 on the film Falling From Grace. That was the final collaboration for the two Seymore Indiana natives.
Crane also worked with Steve Earle, John Prine and John Fogerty. As a solo artist, crane released the albums “tropical Depression” and “Wire and Wood”.
Crane’s appearance in castelton last month was filmed for use in a future commerciall release. He plans additional clinics focused on songs such as “Pink Houses”, “Paper in Fire” and “Lonely Ol’ Night.”
